Artist's Comments

one of my favorite photos from a fashion magazine i found shortly after being evacuated by hurricane Katrina. prompted by anne-san12, i decided that i would attempt portraits again. i'm pretty satisfied with the results. admittedly, i see flaws (MANY MANY). i don't know if i'm motivated enough to fix them, but again, i say i'm satisfied with the results.

That looks great Izzy!!! See, told ya you could do it :D I love how you did the mouth and the nose. The shading is very well done :D
The only thing I can see that may need fixing is the hair. I suggest that you put a bit more detail, along with the other side of the face. Other than that I can't really see anything that needs improvement. :D

i completely understand about the hair. the scanner may have taken away some of the darkness, but i don't think i made it dark enough in the first place.

in the picture you can't differentiate between her hair and the background, and so i was making things up as i went. if i do go back to edit anything it will be to darken up the hair and part of her left eye.

also i don't like the way her chin came out. among other things. but like i said several times, i like the way this came out overall. it was a lot better than i expected.

thanks for the encouragement and suggestions :D

Glad to help :D

I saw Victoria today and told her that I helped convince you to draw a portrait and I don't think she believed me ^^;
She just kinda looked at me like I was crazy.
